Sommer & Staff won awards for excellence for a number of buildings during the Nineties. They included:
- Mackay District Regional Police Headquarters - it adjoins the historic Police Station which was restored to its former glory as part of the contract.
The firm has had a long and mutually rewarding working relationship with government through AusAID. The recently completed Papua-New Guinea Police Complex and Administration Centre in Kokopo, New Britain has brought high praise from the governments involved and offers of further contracts. |
RAAF Amberley had a problem. The roof of the F111 aircraft maintenance hangar was failing. Circumstances demanded that the facility remained functioning while the building was given a new roof. It had to remain weatherproof throughout construction to protect the complex electronic systems of the aircraft, exposed during maintenance, and the sophisticated diagnostic systems used in the process.
Sommer & Staff developed a suitable procedure and carried out the project without disrupting essential defence operations.
At the same time, Sommer & Staff designed and constructed a new Base Hospital then assisted administration and medical personnel to re-establish healthcare services within the new facility.
The client also engaged Sommer & Staff to upgrade, modify, and then extend base's fire service mains around the perimeter. |
